<p>Este libro representa el volumen X de una serie monográfica que contiene las historias clínicas de nuevos pacientes pediátricos atendidos en diferentes hospitales de Madrid, todos ellos centros universitarios de prestigio en donde se desarrolla asistencia, investigación y docencia de alto nivel.</p>
<p>Los casos clínicos aparecen tal como se presentaron en los servicios de urgencias, con la clínica que debutaron, porque cada paciente responde a la noxa infecciosa, traumática, metabólica o tóxica, que produce la enfermedad, de una manera diferente, individualizada. Por eso unos pacientes desarrollan un cuadro clínico florido, típico, característico que facilita el diagnóstico mientras que en otros aparecen con pocos síntomas o signos que dificultan la identificación del proceso. Las pruebas complementarias utilizadas aparecen de manera clara e inmediata en algunos pacientes mientras que en otros se demora o no aparecen, teniendo que hacerse inicialmente el diagnóstico presuntivo.</p>
<p>Los casos presentados son reales, también las pruebas de imagen y los datos complementarios, así como la evolución y las dudas diagnósticas y terapéuticas planteadas. Los casos han sido seleccionados en función de su utilidad docente, no por la dificultad del diagnóstico ni por la rareza o complejidad de la enfermedad. Cada uno de estos casos permite repasar la etiología, fisiopatología, clínica, diagnóstico, tratamiento y evolución del proceso. Los comentarios realizados por expertos se han enriquecido con tablas, esquemas y figuras.</p>
<p>Este X volumen incluye por primera vez casos de patologías ocasionadas por Covid-19. También se incluyen enfermedades de transmisión sexual y trastornos del comportamiento y ansiedad graves; junto a algunos casos clínicos muy cortos que se diagnostican básicamente por la imagen. Esta nueva entrega contribuye, junto con los volúmenes anteriores, a que los médicos dispongan de más de 500 casos clínicos comentados, correspondientes a las patologías más prevalentes, graves y/o importantes de la pediatría.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Se trata de un manual de referencia que será de gran ayuda para el veterinario de pequeños animales que trabaja con pacientes con enfermedades endocrinas. Este libro contiene gran cantidad de gráficos, tablas e imágenes que ilustran el diagnóstico, tratamiento y monitorización de las enfermedades endocrinas en el perro y en el gato.</p>
<p>La primera parte del manual describe la aproximación a los pacientes que presenten problemas frecuentes en las enfermedades endocrinas como poliuria/polidipsia, alopecia bilateral, obesidad y debilidad.</p>
<p>En los siguientes capítulos se abordan de forma detallada las enfermedades endocrinas caninas y felinas, tanto las enfermedades más frecuentes (hipotiroidismo, hipertiroidismo, hiperadrenocorticismo o diabetes) como las menos frecuentes (hipoadrenocorticismo, insulinoma, enanismo hipofisario o acromegalia).</p>
<p>Finalmente, en el Anexo se describen de forma detallada los protocolos de pruebas diagnósticas y su interpretación para el diagnóstico y la monitorización del tratamiento.</p>
